Quick Navigation
Craps are fun and exciting to play, and there is a real possibility for someone to go on a lucky roll and roll the dice for a while without losing. This was the case of a particular lady by the name of Patricia DeMauro, who holds the current Golden Arm record for the longest craps roll. For those who don’t know, the Golden Arm term is used for players who throw the craps dice for over one hour without losing. Well, in the case of Patricia DeMauro, she succeeded in throwing the lucky dice 154 times in four hours and 18 minutes, and here is her story.
Patricia DeMauro’s Craps Roll
On May 23, 2009, Patricia DeMauro and a friend went to the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City with the intention of playing at the casino. She initially went to play the penny slots while her friend played three-card poker, but they did not do well in their respective games, so they decided to retire for the night. On their way to their room, they passed the craps table, and because Patricia had only played craps once, they decided to stop and roll the dice.
She and her friend started playing with a $100 buy-in, placing $20 on the pass line craps bet. Her friend gave Patricia the dice and said that if they lost their bet, they’d call it a night and leave. But Patricia rolled an eight and established a point, and other people started to place bets. Luck was on her side, and Patricia managed to get momentum going, getting in the zone and forgoing any craps superstition – she just rubbed her hands and threw the dice.

She was very successful, and after about 45 minutes, a crowd started to gather around the table and cheer for every dice throw. As the craps game progressed, more and more people began to join the crowd, and after about 2 hours in, they started to chant “Come on, Patsy!”
Patricia later stated that she felt like she was in a dream zone, throwing the dice and winning on every roll; most people in the crowd placed bets and won. After three hours in the game, even the casino executives came to the craps table to see the action, as the dealers were finding it challenging to keep track of all the action.
When four hours passed and Patricia was still on her lucky roll, some people in the crowd started to check if the Golden Arm record was broken – it was! Patricia DeMauro played a single craps roll for four hours and 18 minutes and threw a total of 154 perfect rolls before hitting a seven.
154 Rolls for a Guinness World Record
The average number of dice throws before a seven is rolled is eight, which means that Patricia’s feat was a one in 1.56 trillion. According to statistical data, you are more likely to get hit by lightning or win the lottery than hit the 1.56 trillion to one. The record is still unbeaten and is even entered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest craps roll in history.
When she rolled a seven, everyone was silent for several seconds, and the craps stickman shouted, “Seven out! Take the line, pay the don’ts!” It was Patricia’s report, and after this, the entire crowd applauded her impressive craps roll that was surely accompanied by incredible craps payouts.
Even the casino executives were amazed, and they were ready with the champagne and celebrations. Of course, the mandatory interviews from reputable magazines followed, with everyone asking the question of how Patricia did it.
The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa reported a loss of little under $200,000 during the roll, which was lucky for the casino because everyone was an amateur player, and no one employed a serious craps strategy.

Where is DeMauro Now?
Since her impressive win, she and her friend enjoyed their weekend in Atlantic City, and they even revisited the craps table, but they did not engage in any betting. Patricia DeMauro has not disclosed the exact winnings, but it was said that she treated her friend to a celebratory dinner and took her grandkids on a trip to Disneyland.
Experts estimate that she won at least several thousand, if not a hundred thousand dollars. As of the time of writing this post, Patricia DeMauro remains the reigning champion holding the record for the longest craps roll in history.
