Regulatory & Legal Updates
QuinnBet Faces £609,104 Settlement Over Compliance Failures, iGB
QuinnBet has agreed to pay £609,104 in a regulatory settlement after the UK Gambling Commission identified shortcomings in its anti-money laundering and safer-gambling controls. The review covered activity between March 2023 and August 2025.
Among the cases cited, a customer earning around £2,000 per month deposited and lost £9,000 in four days, while another deposited roughly £120,000 without QuinnBet verifying the source of the funds. The regulator also found that one player placed about 4,800 bets in a day and another 7,000 the following day without triggering an internal warning.
Florida Takes Legal Action Against Stake, VGW and Payment Firms, NEXT
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed lawsuits against Stake and VGW, expanding the state’s crackdown on sweepstakes casinos to the payment companies that support them. Florida is seeking to stop the companies from operating in the state, recover 100% of customers’ gambling losses, and impose civil penalties of up to $10,000 per willful violation.
The complaints accuse the operators of illegal gambling and deceptive conduct through their dual-currency models, where players purchase non-redeemable virtual coins alongside currencies that can be wagered and later redeemed. The cases also name payment and fintech firms including Yodlee, Trustly, Worldpay, Praxis and Breeze Labs Payments.
Denmark Orders Polymarket Among 98 Gambling Sites Blocked, European Gaming
Denmark has blocked access to 98 gambling domains, including prediction-market platform Polymarket, as regulators step up enforcement against operators serving Danish players without a local license. The Frederiksberg court approved the blocks in July, with telecom providers implementing them through DNS restrictions on August 6.
The list is largely made up of offshore casino and sportsbook sites, including multiple domains operated by Leon, Ice Casino and Everygame. Polymarket’s inclusion adds Denmark to a growing group of European markets treating prediction markets as gambling products that require authorization.
Financial Performance & Business Moves
Brazil Betting Revenue Tops R$20 Billion in First Half of 2026, iGamingToday
Brazil’s regulated fixed-odds betting market generated R$20.07 billion in gross gaming revenue during the first half of 2026, up 15.3% from the same period last year. The regulated sector also expanded to 87 licensed companies and 188 brands, while R$2.49 billion was allocated to social programs and other designated recipients.
Players wagered R$410.85 billion between January and June, with R$377.86 billion returned as prizes. January produced the highest monthly GGR at R$4.29 billion, while June came in lowest at R$3.34 billion despite hosting much of the FIFA World Cup schedule.
Evoke Investors Back Bally’s Intralot Takeover Despite Debt Concerns, Gambling Insider
Evoke shareholders have overwhelmingly approved its proposed acquisition by Bally’s Intralot, moving the deal closer to completion. At a court meeting, 99.91% of scheme shares voted in support of the transaction, while a separate resolution required to implement the deal received 99.63% backing.
The vote comes as Bally’s seeks additional financing after warning it could fall short of required liquidity levels and breach a leverage covenant within 12 months. Evoke has challenges of its own, carrying around £1.84 billion in borrowings, with net leverage rising to 5.6x at the end of June.
Fanatics Secures Exclusive NFL Betting Partnership, NEXT
Fanatics has secured an exclusive sponsorship agreement with the NFL, filling a sportsbook partnership gap left by FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars ahead of the 2026 season. The agreement gives Fanatics valuable exposure around a league estimated to have generated $30 billion in betting volume last season.
Under the deal, Fanatics Sportsbook becomes the NFL’s official sports betting partner, while Fanatics Casino takes the official online casino designation. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the arrangement could still lose its exclusivity if former partners return to the negotiating table.
Technology & Innovation in Gambling
BETBY Launches Integrated Live Betting Experience, SBC News
BETBY has launched Watch & Bet, a new feature that brings live streams, betting markets, odds and betslips into the same sportsbook interface. Players can place wagers without leaving the video, while the stream can be repositioned or hidden depending on how they want to follow the action.
The launch builds on BETBY data showing the value of live content. During the World Cup, users who interacted with live streams generated 44.79% higher GGR, placed 24.30% more bets and recorded 32.53% higher average stakes than players on platforms without streaming. GR8_TECH Showcases Crypto Payment Speed in Trackside Test, SBC News
GR8_TECH took an unconventional approach to demonstrating the speed of its crypto payment technology, putting a transaction head-to-head with a racecar at the UK’s Donington Park Circuit. The crypto payment completed 15 seconds before the car finished its lap.
The test showcased GREAT_CRYPTO TURNKEY, which integrates crypto processing directly into the company’s platform and lets players manage fiat and cryptocurrency balances through a single account. GR8_TECH is positioning faster payments as a conversion tool for operators, arguing that reducing delays between depositing and playing can have a direct impact on the player journey.

Many Dutch Players Open Gambling Accounts as Soon as They Turn 18, iGB
The Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) has found a sharp increase in gambling registrations as young people reach the legal age of 18. Of accounts opened by 18-year-olds in 2024-25, 11% were created on their birthday and 38% within a month of turning 18.
KSA data covering 15,761 newly funded accounts also showed that players aged 18 to 24 represented 33% of new registrations. Newly turned 18-year-olds accounted for 41% of those young-adult accounts. Casino products dominated initial activity, with 72% starting with casino games compared with just 11% for sports betting.
Dutch Regulator Backs Machine-Learning Tool to Spot Problem Gambling, iGamingToday
The KSA is backing an open-source machine-learning model designed to identify potentially risky online gambling by analyzing player behavior rather than relying primarily on self-reported information.
Developed by researchers at the University of Amsterdam, the algorithm assesses factors including betting patterns, gambling frequency, session timing, and winning or losing streaks. It then assigns players a risk score that operators can use as an additional layer in their responsible-gambling monitoring systems.
