Suspicious Casino Transactions in Macau Drop by 15% in H1 2025, Gambling Insider
Macau’s casino industry reported a significant decrease in suspicious transaction reports (STRs) for the first half of 2025. The Financial Intelligence Office confirmed that 1,856 STRs were filed by gaming operators, marking a 14.9% decline compared to the same period in 2024.
This drop was the main driver behind an overall 12.6% reduction in STRs across all sectors in Macau, indicating a notable trend towards improved regulatory compliance or a potential shift in the underlying financial activity.
The gaming sector continued to dominate suspicious transaction reporting, accounting for 73.8% of all STRs submitted during the period, though its share dipped slightly from the prior year. In contrast, financial institutions and insurance companies contributed 19.9% of reports, showing a marginal increase year-on-year.
Denmark Tightens Gambling Ad Rules with Updated Marketing Guidelines, Spillemyndigheden
Denmark’s gambling regulator, Spillemyndigheden, has released updated guidelines to strengthen oversight of gambling marketing in the country. The revisions introduce stricter requirements around advertising clarity, transparency, and consumer protection.
Operators are now required to provide detailed and accurate information on winning odds and thoroughly clarify that gambling is primarily an entertainment activity, not a guaranteed means to wealth or social status.
The updates also establish robust limits on promotional offers, including a cap on individual bonuses and a ban on targeted campaigns to inactive players. The guidelines explicitly require the inclusion of essential details such as eligibility, wagering requirements, time restrictions, and maximum possible winnings.
ACMA Blocks Five More Illegal Gambling Sites, Total Now 1,279, ACMA
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has requested the blocking of five additional illegal online gambling websites following a recent investigation. The targeted sites were found to be operating unlawfully under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, which prohibits unlicensed gambling services in Australia.
This latest enforcement brings the total number of blocked illegal gambling and affiliate websites to 1,279 since ACMA began using blocking measures in late 2019. In addition to website blocking, ACMA has overseen the exit of around 220 illegal operators from the Australian market since 2017.
The regulator urged Australian consumers to verify whether a gambling provider holds a valid local license via the official register on the ACMA website and to exercise caution when engaging with online gambling services.

New Jersey Gaming Revenue Breaks Monthly Record at $581.6M, Gaming America
New Jersey’s gaming industry set a new monthly record by generating $581.6 million in total revenue for June 2025, an 18.4% year-on-year increase. Growth was driven evenly across casino, iGaming, and sports betting.
Online casino (iGaming) revenue soared by 23.5% to $230.7 million, while sports wagering surged 52.9% to $91.9 million. Traditional casino operations also posted healthy gains, with table game revenue rising 26.9% to $76.2 million, even as slot machine revenue saw a minor 0.7% dip to $182.8 million.
All major casino properties in Atlantic City experienced positive results, with Borgata earning $76.7 million, up 19.4%, and Ocean Casino and Caesars also reporting strong growth. This broad-based revenue surge across segments highlights sustained consumer demand for both land-based and digital gaming.
Macau Casino Revenue Jumps 11.6% in July, Signaling Strong H2, iGB
Macau’s gaming sector posted a robust 11.6% year-on-year increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for July, reaching MOP18.6 billion (about $2.31 billion). This spike pushes total revenue for 2025 to over MOP132 billion, which is already more than 61% of the government’s forecast for the full year.
The continued momentum is attributed to strong visitor numbers, new premium hotel launches, and a vibrant entertainment calendar that has supported both VIP and mass market segments. Analysts have responded by revising full-year forecasts upward, with expectations that Macau’s gaming industry will benefit from a “good start to the second half.”
Patrice Evra Joins Stake as Global Ambassador, Gambling Insider
Stake, a major betting and gaming company, has appointed former footballer Patrice Evra as its global ambassador. Evra, renowned for his career at clubs like Manchester United and Juventus, adds star power to Stake’s roster of ambassadors that already includes Sergio Aguero.
The company plans to feature Evra in new multimedia campaigns and engagement initiatives, leveraging his widespread popularity and charismatic public persona. The terms and length of the deal were not disclosed, but Evra’s upcoming appearances on Stake’s channels are expected to attract significant attention in key international markets.
Denmark’s May Gambling Revenue Hits DKK683M on iGaming Surge, iGB
Denmark’s gambling revenue hit a record high in May 2025, climbing to DKK683 million (approximately $107 million), largely fueled by a 39.9% year-on-year surge in online casino revenue. Online casino activity alone contributed DKK389 million, reflecting shifting player preferences toward digital channels, while slots made up the majority of this total.
The report from Danish gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden shows a broader industry uptrend, with overall market revenue up 19.6% from May 2024 and 2.7% higher than the previous month.
Land-based segments also showed resilience: physical slot machines generated DKK105 million (an 8.3% annual gain), and casino revenue held steady at DKK32 million. Meanwhile, sports betting revenue dipped by 6.3% to DKK154 million, with mobile wagering accounting for 64% of the category.

Ukraine to Roll Out National Gambling Monitoring Platform, NEXT.io
Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation has announced the imminent launch of a nationwide online monitoring system for the gambling sector. This new platform is designed to track all betting and gaming transactions in real time, providing public access to market statistics and streamlining oversight by regulatory and tax authorities.
The system will empower the government to monitor legal operators, combat unlicensed gambling, and bolster transparency and predictability in tax revenues. The monitoring system will require all licensed operators to connect their gambling equipment within six months of the official launch.
Regulatory officials expect the system to support tax enforcement, deter illegal activity, and lower license fees to regular rates for compliant operators, further driving the development of Ukraine’s regulated gambling market.
Scientific Games Unveils AI-Powered Lottery Tool ‘GameChoice’, MarketWatch
Scientific Games has introduced GameChoice, an AI-driven lottery product recommendation engine aimed at personalizing the retail lottery experience. The app is confidential, free, and emphasizes self-guided approaches to reducing or quitting gambling, reflecting research that shows 18- to 24-year-olds are twice as likely to want to cut down or quit gambling compared to the overall gambling population (29% vs 15%).
Developed after a survey of more than 60,000 people across eight countries and insight from up to 4.5 million people in Great Britain seeking to reduce or stop gambling, GambleAware’s app fills the gap for those reluctant to pursue formal treatment.
Gamstop Sees 19% Spike in Signups as Leadership Shifts, Gambling Insider
Gamstop, the UK’s national online gambling self-exclusion scheme, has reported a sharp 19% increase in registrations for 2025, a continuation of record-setting trends. More than 1% of the UK population is now enrolled, with approximately 99,186 new sign-ups in 2024 and the total number of active users reaching over 532,000 since the program’s 2018 launch.
The majority of registrants are choosing the maximum five-year exclusion, underscoring a sustained demand for gambling harm prevention in the UK.
