Swedish Court Upholds SEK12 Million Fine Against Videoslots, NEXT
A Swedish court upheld a SEK12 million ($1.1 million) penalty imposed on online casino operator Videoslots by the Swedish Gambling Authority. The fine relates to shortcomings in the company’s responsible gambling controls and customer protection measures.
The court found that Videoslots failed to adequately monitor several high-spending customers between 2019 and 2020, despite indicators of potentially harmful gambling behavior. Judges rejected the operator’s appeal and backed Spelinspektionen’s conclusion that earlier interventions should have been taken to protect at-risk players.

The partnership grants Kalshi marketing rights across AFA digital channels and national team assets ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The deal also comes amid ongoing regulatory and legal debates over the status of prediction markets across the United States.
Sweden’s Channelisation Rate Falls to 84%, iGB
Sweden’s gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, reported that channelisation in the country fell to 84% in 2025. The figure represents the estimated share of gambling activity taking place through licensed operators, down from the government’s long-standing target of at least 90%.
Spelinspektionen estimated that channelisation in online casino gambling may be as low as 72% to 82%, meaning a significant share of players are using unlicensed sites. The regulator said offshore operators continue attracting customers through products and promotions that are unavailable within Sweden’s regulated market.

New Jersey’s gaming industry generated $627 million in total revenue during May, with online gaming once again serving as the primary growth driver. Internet casino revenue rose 28.5% year over year to more than $246 million, continuing the sector’s strong momentum.

Finnish operator Veikkaus deployed OpenBet’s Neccton responsible gambling platform across its retail and digital channels. The system uses AI-driven monitoring to detect potentially harmful gambling behavior and provide operators with tools to intervene when risks are identified.
The rollout expands Veikkaus’ responsible gambling infrastructure as Finland prepares for major gambling market reforms. OpenBet said Neccton analyzes player behavior in real time and helps operators apply safer gambling measures through automated risk detection and intervention capabilities.

The strategy also includes stronger player protection measures, stricter duty-of-care requirements, and additional controls on high-risk gambling products. Dutch officials said the proposals are intended to reduce exposure to gambling advertising, particularly among young adults and vulnerable groups.
Wales Launches NHS Online Gambling Support Programme, Yogonet
Wales became the first UK nation to launch a dedicated NHS online gambling support service, giving residents access to treatment and advice without requiring referrals from healthcare professionals. The programme is designed to make support more accessible for individuals experiencing gambling-related harm.
The service offers digital assessments, counseling, treatment planning, and referrals to specialist support where needed. Health officials said the initiative responds to growing demand for gambling harm services and forms part of wider efforts to expand treatment options across the UK.
